When you're playing with fire, use only the best tools available.
When it comes to fire tool sets I prefer either a welded handle or a forged handle. Fireplace tool sets with screw-on handles tend to become unscrewed as you use them, twisting to arrange the wood.
If you burn a wood stove then choose a short tool set that allows you to be closer to the stove when tending the fire. Stove tool sets are also best for smaller prefabricated fireplaces and little coal fireplaces.
